The history of Lord Sri Swayambhu Kala Bhiarava in Chintakunta village came to light in the Dravidian language above 200 years ago. The Old Chintakunta village was existing about two km away to the north-west of the existing Chintakunta Village.

In olden days, dacoits used to fre- quently raid on this village to not only rob the villagers of their valuables but also resort to molestation of women forcing those women subjected to this assault to take away their lives by jumping into the well. Thus, the villagers were spending sleepless nights amid terror fearing attacks by these groups.

One evening, when the village elders were discussing the local problems at a cen- tre, they heard the sound of anklets of a woman and the horse movement in the north- east comer. The villagers had a dream that night in which a body-less soul (Akasavani) told them that the Lord had has taken birth as self-manifested Swayambhu in the snake-pit and that He will save the villagers from the clutches of these dacoits if they take up the building of temple along with the reconstruction of the village.
